Connecticut Insurance: Tips for an Easier Family Getaway
Kids complicate things- especially family vacations. Whether you’re going on a weekend road trip or across country, bringing the whole family adds a barrage of stress, responsibility, and added planning to your vacation. Here is a list of summer packing tips to help prepare you for your next vacation- while it won’t reduce the frequency or decibel level of the ever present “Are we there yet?” it might make the transition easier to bear.
To streamline packing, before you leave pack each kid’s individual outfits in a gallon Ziploc bag, with a t-shirt pair, of socks, underwear, everything they need for that single day. It saves time on the trip, and insures you don’t forget anything.
Pack a permanent toiletry bag. Buy doubles of everything you use- body wash, contact solution, etc. Keep it in your suitcase so it’s always ready for your next trip. That way, when you’re in hurry rushing the kids out the door, you can rest easy knowing you didn’t forget anything.
If you are flying, place a photocopy of your complete itinerary including your home address, all flight information and hotel addresses. Include all travel dates. If your bag gets lost in transit, airline staff will know where to find you.
Pack a fun bag. Buy some fun toys, snacks, and games as a surprise. Bring them out in intervals throughout the trip for a fun surprise and pick-me-up.
Give each child a disposable camera, journal, and allowance to buy souvenirs for the trip. It will give them a sense of independence, help them learn to manage their money, and create some great memories for them to have.
