• As spring typically brings plenty of rain, be sure to protect the foundation with compacted soil to prevent flooding.
• Any rotting wood around windows and doors should be replaced prior to the spring rains.
• Have a certified inspector evaluate and clean out the chimney flue.
• If you have any cracks in the concrete steps or walkways of your home, fill them with silicone caulk or concrete crack filler. Simply power wash the finished product and seal it afterwards for long-term protection.
• HGTV also reminds you to have a qualified heating and cooling contractor clean and service the outside unit of the air conditioning system, clean coils so they operate more efficiently, and schedule an annual service call to keep the system working at peak performance levels. Further, change interior filters on a regular basis.
