Summer Collector Car Care: 5 Detailing Tips
Summer Classic Car Maintenance > Detailing
In this series of posts, we have covered the classic car care strategies that are important in the summer. As taking care of your classic vehicle is undoubtedly a labor of love, summer is the best time to give your investment a good detailing. If you choose to do the work yourself, read the following 5 tips for ensuring your keep your classic car in mint condition. But first, protect your car with a Windham County Collector Car Insurance policy.
#1: Clean the chrome.
The oils on your fingers can leave prints on shiny chrome pieces. Use a soft cotton cloth to wipe down smudged on your wheels, steering wheel, gauges, and more.
#2: Cleaning upholstery.
Remove grease streaks or oil-based stains from upholstery with baby powder. Sprinkle it directly on the spot, allowing it to rest on the surface for about half an hour. Dust it off with a soft nylon brush then vacuum the area to remove the powdery residue, says Angie’s List.
#3: Carpet.
For the interior carpet, use an air compressor to force out the dirt. Next, use a vacuum cleaner to pick up any loose debris that the air compressor missed.
#4: Wheels.
Use a nylon brush to clean out the small areas in between spokes, if applicable. It might be tedious, but washing and rinsing alone isn’t enough to rid the intricate wheels of grime.
#5: Dashboard.
Prevent scratching delicate surfaces by using a handful of cotton balls to clean in between vents, gauges, and seams.
