Use Facebook & Pinterest to Plan Your Wedding
Use Facebook & Pinterest to Plan Your Wedding
Wedding planning is stressful, chaotic, and exciting. Brides of yester year spent the days searching through bridal magazines and wedding books. Now, they like brands on Facebook, create inspiration boards on Pinterest, and reach out to social networks for ideas and recommendations.
Mashable and TheKnot.com conducted a Social and Tech Wedding Survey to see how social media has altered the landscape of wedding planning.
The results? Today’s brides are socially savvy. More brides than ever are using Pinterest and Facebook to share ideas, get recommendations, and even work with vendors. Brides browse wedding blogs, become fans of brands on Facebook, and use wedding planning apps to help keep everything organized.
Facebook tops the list as the most popular wedding site. On Facebook, brides are sharing information. Nearly one in three updated their status within hours of getting engaged; one in ten update it within minutes. Fifty-one percent shared progress updates, and others share registry info and pictures of the planning process. Bachelorette, bridal shower, even engagement party were broadcast through Facebook events.
Pinterest follows next with visual inspiration. Brides follow their favorite wedding brands, such as The Knot and Style Me Pretty, discover new blogs, and create inspiration boards to get an idea of what they want. The boards are shared with bridesmaids for advice and help wedding planners get an idea of what their client is looking for.
